Thomas Martin Davis, age 86 of Tuscaloosa, passed away September 6, 2021 at home. Services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Magnolia Chapel South at 1:00 pm with Dr. Herbert Thomas officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Shepard Cemetery in Fayette.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Thomas Myscle and Estelle Gibson Davis and his sister Muriel Hubbert.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Sue Davis, daughter; Pamela Davis Lee, son; Jeff Davis (Julie) and his grandchildren; Lacey Lee Borden (Kalon), Carson Lee, Bailey Davis Stephens (Buddy), his great grandson; Liam Stephens and great granddaughter; Emmerson Stephens.
Chief Davis served his country in the United States Marine Corp before serving as the Fire Chief of Tuscaloosa from 1987 until his retirement in 2001. During his tenure two new fire stations were built. He made sure each fire station had a rescue vehicle and was staffed with at least one paramedic. Chief Davis helped to increase the departments fleet of rescue trucks and pumper and ladder trucks. He also helped to design the fire department uniform patch. He proudley served 37 years with the fire department. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend whom will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Member of the Tuscaloosa Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Chief Ken Swindle, Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue, Tuscaloosa Police Department, Members of Circlewood Baptist Church, Sean Hobson, Louis and Janece Miller and Alabama Power.
