Raymond E. Fields MOUNDVILLE | Raymond E. Fields, age 85, of Moundville, Ala., died August 12, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Moundville Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Duckett officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Ruth Smithson Fields; parents, Edward and Laura Burroughs Fields; and sister, Gladys Fields Freeman. Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Fields; daughters, Joyce Matherson (Danny), Tammy Poole (Howell); son, Ray Fields (Lydia); sisters, Nettie Ruth Fields, Jackie Redding (Billy), Annie Earle Jackson (Johnny); brothers, Irvin Fields (Barbara) and Buddy Fields (Ginny); grandchildren, Daniel Fields (Laura), Cristy Crawford (Cody), Lesley Fields, Chad Lochridge (Heather); Jason Lochridge (Mindy), Natalie Poole, Emily Mullenix (Justin) and Vic Poole, Megan Waters (Thomas); six great- grandchildren; two great- great- grandchildren; step-daughters Rita Parker (Gary), and Patti Meyerdirk (Doug) and their families; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Raymond was born on April 28, 1930 in Moundville, Ala. After attending Moundville schools, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. After his military service he returned to Moundville where he established and operated Ray's Garage for over 30 years. Raymond was a long time member of Moundville Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. In April 1965 Raymond gave his life to our Lord, Jesus Christ. He lived the remainder of his life as a committed Christian. He used every opportunity presented to him to witness to others about the saving grace, forgiveness, redemption and eternal salvation given to us through our profession of faith in and acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Pallbearers will be Daniel Fields, Chad Lochridge, Jason Lochridge, Danny Matherson, Howell Poole and Vic Poole. Honorary Pallbearers are Stevens Sunday School Class, Hospice of West Alabama and friends and neighbors of the Moundville and Tuscaloosa communities.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Moundville Baptist Church or Hospice of West Alabama.
