Mary Earnest

Mary M. Mitchell Earnest, age 76, of Northport, AL, passed away May 1, 2022 at her residence. Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, 2022, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel North. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Terry Joe Oswalt officiating. Burial will follow in Gibson Hill Cemetery, 6940 County Road 83, Fayette, AL 35546 with Magnolia Chapel North directing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Jodie and Eula Ann Mitchell of Brent, AL; son, Paul Steven “Steve” Earnest; sister, Mattie Lou Skinner of Centreville, AL; brothers, William Mitchell of Holt, AL, Robert Mitchell of Brent, AL, and Clifton Mitchell of Brent, AL.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Paul W. Earnest of Northport, AL; daughters, Reba A. Bishop (Jerry) of Centre, AL, Linda E. Falls (Larry) of Northport, AL, Carmen E. Morgan (Cornelius) of Staunton, VA; sisters, Annie Mae Mathews of Tuscaloosa, AL, Betty Angel (Larry) of Pensacola, FL; Faye Smiley (Ray) of Evansville, IN, and Hazel Wilkerson of Camden, AL; brothers, David Mitchell of Brent, AL and Leonard Mitchell of Brent, AL; ten grandchildren, Keith Robb (Nikki) of Suffolk, VA, Megan De Santis (Rob) of Kansas City, MO, Mark Falls (Sherry) of Newark, OH, Holly Downs of Brookwood, AL, Brandon Grimsley (Ciera) of Northport, AL, Melvin Grimsley of Northport, AL, Wesley Morgan of Staunton, VA, Cristy Hansard (Cory) of Centre, AL, Jennifer Bishop of Peterburg, FL, or Johnathon Earnest of Northport, AL; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Hayden Robb, Alexander Robb, Charis Falls, Kimbrell Falls, Caroline Falls, Emily Salzarulo, Isaac Salzarulo, Addy Grimsley, Tanner Grimsley, Savannah Grimsley, Aiden Grimsley, Maddie Grimsley, Hannah Grimsley, Joel Grimsley, Rebeckah Grimsley, Sarah Grimsley, Benjamin Grimsley, Abby King, Ally King, Easton Abernathy, and Adalyn Hansard.

Mrs. Earnest worked as an LPN at Bryce Hospital and at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Her hobbies included: sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family.

Pallbearers will be Rob De Santis, Hayden Robb, Brandon Grimsley, Melvin Grimsley, Wesley Morgan, and Johnathon Earnest.

Honorary pallbearers are Amedisys Home Health, Alabama Hospice Care of Tuscaloosa, Dr. Stephen Browne, and Northport Internal Medicine.
