Woody was an ordinary man that lived an extraordinary life. He grew up in a tough environment but was loved unconditionally by his father and family. His raising shaped him into a man. He was born March 7th, 1959 in Coker, Alabama to Webster Patton and Bobbie Glaze. In his first few decades of work, he grew up in the woods logging and saw milling with his father. Upon the death of his father, Woody evolved the family business into contracting and excavating and began training its next generation. Woody was a skilled man that could do any type of work with his hands. He was a working man.

He was proceeded in death by his father and his mother. He leaves behind his wife Scarlett, his children Hunter, Millie and Web and their spouses Ben, Nate and Sara, his sisters Jan and Kim, his brother-in-law, Larry, his nephews Clint and Matt and his grandchildren Crit, Toby and Stella to whom he was a good Papa. His legacy of faith, hard work and family lives on in the ones he leaves behind. Woody’s witness and testimony impacted many. In his final days he reminded his family to pray when the Holy Spirit tells you to pray, to give when he says give, to help when he tells you to help and to share Jesus when He’s on your heart. Woody was ordinary. It’s the One who lived inside of him that made Woody special.

His family would like to thank all the people that brought food and offered words of encouragement. Not only did it nourish our bodies, but it nourished our souls. Also, a special thanks would like to be given to the prayer warriors that carried us. We were granted the strength and mercy to endure. Thank you to Dr. Sanford, the nurses at the Cancer Treatment Center and the nurses and staff at Hospice of West Alabama and to Dr. Joe Wallace for being a good neighbor.

“They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11

“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28

Woody frequently said, “Take time to bury me, but by god, don’t let up”.
