Woodrow Spencer TUSCALOOSA Woodrow Spencer, age 92, of Tuscaloosa, died July 18, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lake Baptist Church with Keith Frasier officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the Fellowship Hall of Forest Lake Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 60 years, Frances Spencer; his parents, Emily and Lemuel Spencer; and 12 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Lynn Rishavy (Ray) of Tuscaloosa; two grandsons, David Passons Jr. and Jesse Passons; and five great-grandchildren. He was born in Samantha and had eight brothers and four sisters. He joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. On the way home upon discharge, he met his lovely wife on a Greyhound bus coming from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa. They were together for 60 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and setting up at flea markets from Alabama to California. He will be missed by many. Love you, Dad. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Keith DeBell, staff of ICU and 4SW, Dr. Azam, Dr. Berry, and Druid Drifters Camping Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Woodrow Spencer Memorial Fund at BBVA Compass Bank on McFarland Blvd.
