Wilma Kathleen Box
NORTHPORT - Wilma Kathleen Box, age 95, of Northport, died October 8, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Carroll's Creek Baptist Church with Alan Roggli and Don Springer officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleatus Box.
Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Brodi and Patsy Hagler; sister, Vera Nell Sands; grandchildren, Kimberly Carryth (John Dee), Marty Hallman (Susan), Christina Hamner (Jack), Steve Hallman (Jennifer) and Julianna Hallman; great-grandchildren, Jessica Rogers, Jesse Hallman, Kayla Adams, Haden Hallman, Brody Bailey, Thad Hallman, Tristan Hallman, AnnaKate Swiney, Meagan Wicker and Kaitlyn Wicker; and great-great-grandchildren, Zeke, Raegan, Remington and Ava.
Kate was best known for cooking, sewing and her green thumb. She always had a pan of biscuits sitting on her antique Kelvinator stove and her chicken and dumplings were favored by many. She was the community seamstress and beautician. She took pleasure in feeding family and friends, sharing her garden vegetables and creating gorgeous flower arrangements especially for Sunday morning church services.
Her sewing specialty was clothing and quilts. Kate Box was a very unique woman whose memory will live on in the hearts of many.
Pallbearers will be John Dee Carruth, Marty Hallman, Steve Hallman, Jack Roberts, Josh Rogers, Jesse Hallman, Haden Hallman, Thad Hallman and Tristan Hallman.
Honorary pallbearer is Brody Dailey.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
