Willie Dean Gregory McAteer

Dean McAteer, age 92, of Buhl, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 23, 2024, at Heritage Healthcare, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a woman of unwavering faith, known for her unconditional love for her family and her signature sassiness that brought joy to those around her.

Services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Magnolia Chapel North. Burial will follow at Cornelius Chapel Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dean was preceded in death by her father, James Gregory; mother, Vivian Gregory; husband, James McAteer; daughter, Patricia McAteer; and brother, Fleetwood Gregory. She is survived by her son, Rodney McAteer (Sonya); granddaughter, Brittany Hardy (Alan); great-grandchildren, Brayden and Blaine Hardy; and brother, Marvin Gregory. 

Those who knew Dean loved her fiercely; she had a remarkable ability to speak her mind, ensuring everyone knew exactly where they stood. Her faith in Christ was a cornerstone of her life, and she inspired many with her steadfast belief and heartfelt conversations about her faith. Dean will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with all who crossed her path.

Her family includes beloved pallbearers: Alan Hardy, Brayden Hardy, Blaine Hardy, Scott Gregory, Grayson Gregory, and Phillip Booth.

The family extends a special thanks to Heritage Health Care for their relentless compassion and love shown to Dean over the years, especially in her final days with us.
