MOUNDVILLE - William Henry Watkins, age 79, of Moundville, Ala., passed away June 26, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Indian Mounds Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his wife on 54 years, Kathleen Watkins; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Watkins; parents, Victor and Mollie Watkins, brothers, Edward Watkins and Bill Watkins; sister, Lola Mae Boothe.
Survivors include his daughters, Heather Watkins; sons, Joseph Watkins (Katy); brothers, Bobby Watkins and David Watkins; and grandchildren, Lyla and Luke.
He was a loving husband to his late wife of 54 years and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He was always a hard worker. He grew up in Moundville working on the farms and at Chandler's mill. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1967. He moved back to Moundville in 1967 and started his own business "Henry's Small Engine Repair" and got on at BF Goodrich. He retired from BF Goodrich after 24 years in 1994. He enjoyed running his shop and helping his customers over the years and telling stories. He was a proud member of Indian Mounds Baptist Church and a very proud American!
Pallbearers will be Nick Wilson, Kevin Nelson, Brock Loper, Columbus Jackson, Christian Burch and Mark Dockery.
Honorary pallbearers are Emery Norris, John Bradshaw, Kenny Nelson and Dan Davis.
