William Voss

WILLIAM ARTHUR VOSS MOUNDVILLE - William Arthur Voss, age 77, of Moundville, died October 7, 2017, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 12 noon Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church, 1295 Co. Rd 34, Akron, AL 35441, with Elder Luke Laird and Elder Buddy Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Voss and Ethel Hendon Voss; brothers, Jerald Voss and Jerry Voss; and children, John Voss and Brandi Voss. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Charlotte Haney Voss; daughters, Donna Hester and Amy Cole (John); sons, Josh Voss and Chris Moakley; seven grandchildren; sister, Elise Latham (Leon); mother-in-law, Bonnie Haney; brother-in-law, Gregg Haney (Emily); and nephews and nieces. He loved catch-and-release bass fishing, traveling, reading and always recruited for UA Local 372 Plumbers and Pipefitters apprenticeship program. He had that "Arthur way"� that made everyone love him. He was proud that he worked with McAbee Construction during its infancy and through the years, and he loved working for McAbee "on the river"�. He also worked as a maintenance supervisor at Lawter International. Very special thanks to one of his wife"�s first cousins, Chad Payne, for donating a kidney that gave Arthur a productive and healthy life for almost nine years. Also, thanks to Shirley Fields, Scott Burke, members of Serendipity Club, HCHS Class of 1969, and church family of Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Gregg Haney, Adam Haney, Chad Payne, Chuck Payne, Nelson Segura and Keith Holiman.
