William Hutchins

William B. Hutchins III NORTHPORT - William B. Hutchins III (Bruce), of Northport, Ala., passed away at his home by Lake Tuscaloosa on May 1, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. He was 73. Bruce was born on January 28, 1943 in Tuscaloosa. He attended Tuscaloosa County High and was starting point guard for the 1960 Wildcats state championship winning basketball team. After a 38-year career with Alabama Power Company, he retired as CFO in 2004. An avid Alabama fan, he held season tickets not only for football but also for softball, gymnastics, and basketball. He was generous and charitable, sharing his time and resources with many organizations that were close to his heart: North River Church, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts, Big Oak Ranch, and the overseas mission project Grain Game, to name a few. He will be greatly missed and dearly remembered by those who survive him: mother, Mildred Hutchins; uncle, John Lemley; wife, Priscilla; daughter, Frances; son, Christopher; brothers, Raymond (Laura) and John Robert (Lisa); and granddaughters, Lacey and Olivia. A memorial service will be held at North River Church, 4215 Rice Mine Rd NE, Tuscaloosa, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 6 p.m. Honorary pallbearers are A.D. Christian, Earl Hydrick, Ronnie Lett, Charles Rampacek, Travis Bowden, Elmer Harris, Bobby Keith, Dave Bolin, Jim Riley and Chip Riley.
