Dr. William Charles Graves Ed.D MONTGOMERY | Dr. William Charles Graves, age 73 of Montgomery, Ala., passed away on June 6 ,2014 at Heritage Health Care and Rehab Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at First Wesleyan Church Tuscaloosa with Rev. Glenn Rainey officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Entombment in Serenity Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, June 9, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church Tuscaloosa. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Oda Rae Owens Graves; and his grandparents, John and Oda Owens, and John Harvey and Ollie Graves. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeanette Stamey Graves; his daughter, Gina Marie Graves Paulette (Bennett); sons, Jeff Graves (Heather), and Rick Graves, M.D (Lori); his sister, Anne Graves Johnson; brothers, Donald H. Graves (Ruth), J. David Graves, and Dwight H. Graves; his father, Howard Oran (H.O.) Graves; and his grandchildren, Ben Graves, Shelby Graves, Hannah Paulette, Connor Graves, William Graves, Zach Paulette, Lydia Paulette, Chloe Graves, and Joshua Paulette. William ""Charles"" Graves was born October 20, 1940 in Perry County. he graduated from Southern Wesleyan College, S.C. He received a Masters in Counseling at the University of Alabama before achieving a Doctorate in Vocational Education at the University of Tennessee. He taught science and served as a Guidance Counselor at Tuscaloosa High School. He retired after 28 years of service recruiting physicians to the underserved areas of Alabama. He received the D.G. Gill award for exceptional contribution to the Health Department. Charles loved his family and friends passionately and had a special heart for the downtrodden. He was an active member of Capital City Church of the Nazarene, active in bus ministry while serving as a Trustee. He loved cars and people and never missed a chance to connect in his special way. A special thanks for the physical support and most importantly prayers of friends and family. Pallbearers will be David Graves, Dwight Graves, Bennett Paulette, Kent Graves, Ben Graves, William Graves, Connor Graves, and Zack Paulette. Honorary Pallbearers are Joshua Paulette, Jackson Harvey, Cousins, Green Acres Neighbors, ASDPH co workers, Capital City Church members, FWC, and HHCC Staff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Charles Graves Memorial Fund, Capital City Church of the Nazarene, 4450 Vaughn Rd. Montgomery, AL 36106
