Bill Franklin, loving husband and father, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was met at the Gates of Heaven by his Mother and Father Norma and Stewart and his favorite Uncle Jack and Aunt Nancy. Bill was born in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School. He was a pilot and flight instructor for Dixie Air - taking Melissa flying for their first date. He worked for the City of Tuscaloosa as an Aircrash Fireman for over 25 years. Bill's greatest gift from God was teaching. He was an instructor for the American Red Cross and training officer for Sipsey Valley and Coker VFD. Bill's first love was his family and friends. He loved cooking for his wife, spending weekends watching his daughter in softball and karate, and enjoying countless hours on the water fishing. Bill was also a great comforter. It was not unusual to find him at the scene of an accident praying over a patient and their families and bringing a sense of peace and calm to other firefighters.
Pallbearers will be Cody Bellomy, Jeff Hughes, Max Hughes, Rusty Vick, Mike Henson, and Howie Wedgeworth.
Honorary pallbearers are Tuscaloosa City Fire Department, Sipsey Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Coker Volunteer Fire Department, Bethany Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa District Court, Robert and Terri Spencer, Byron Waid, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Virgets, Mike and Cecilia Bellomy and Mike and Glenda Phillips.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bethany Baptist Church cemetery fund or the Sipsey Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
