Wayne Kelley NORTHPORT Wayne Kelley, age 83, of Northport, died July 18, 2013, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Brother Tim Tindle officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Belvie Kelley; a daughter, Deborah Kelley Herndon; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Elliot Kelley; two sisters, Dean Jones and Ileene Hallman; and two brothers, Cleo Kelley and Cecil Kelley. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Era Mae Brown Kelley; a son, David Wayne Kelley; a granddaughter, Amanda Herndon Parker (Seth); grandsons, Joshua Ryan Herndon, Sam Kelley, and Ben Kelley; four great-granddaughters, Sydney Grace, Sarah Camden, Audrey Lee, and Lucy Ann; his sisters, Katherine Moon, Yvonne Abrams (J.B.), and Jean Montgomery; brother, Charles Kelley (Brenda); and a very special son-in-law, Bobby Herndon and wife, Kay and son, Zach. Mr. Kelley was born in Northport in 1929. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army and was a Master Sergeant Headquarters Special Troop Battalion Ft. Rucker Alabama before retiring in 1969. He then continued his aviation career at the University of Alabama where he was a mechanic and also a co-pilot until his retirement in 1992. He was a wonderful man who loved his family and loved the Lord. He will truly be missed. Pallbearers will be Josh Herndon, Sam Kelley, Ben Kelley, Nathan Kelley, John Michael Boswell, and Ricky Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy's Rib and Steak employees and friends at the "Round Table"�, Mrs. Cornelia Prewitt, the Mt. Olive Baptist Deacons and the entire Mt. Olive Baptist Church Family, and members of the J. Collier Foster Masonic Lodge. A special thanks to the staff, nurses and doctors at Northport Medical Center, Amedisys Home Health, Care and Amedisys Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Youth Building Fund.
