Wayland Dunn

Wayland Terry Dunn, age 74, of Northport, Ala., passed away October 4, 2022 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church on Romulus Rd. in Buhl, Ala. with Rev. Ken Cheek officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Orene Dunn.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Y. Dunn; daughters, Tia Sutton (Jacob), Jaclyn Cook (Shane), and Cheri Shaw (Scott); and grandchildren, Benjamin Sutton, David Sutton, Landon Butler, Kirstin Sellers, Tyler Cook, and Hannah-Grace Cook.

Wayland was born and raised in Arab, Alabama and eventually moved to Northport, Ala. to pursue a career in banking. He retired from Compass Bank in 2008 as Branch Manager. Wayland was a wonderful husband and father. In his spare time, Wayland loved to hunt, fish, and target shoot with his friends.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Sutton, Terry Meggs, Price Abbot, Eddie Yessick and Landon Butler.

Honorary pallbearers are Mike Skipper and Hospice of West Alabama.
