Walter Henry Neill was born at Cullman Hospital in Cullman, Alabama to the Rev E. E. Neill and Willie Mae Owen Neill on April 18, 1945. He was the youngest of four children. Walter grew up in the Northwest Alabama and Northeast Mississippi areas because of his father’s occupation as a Baptist Minister. He often said his favorite memories of growing up were when he was a member of the Colbert Heights High School football team in Tuscumbia, Alabama. As a teenager he started working at an Automotive Repair Shop changing and repairing tires. Then as an adult he moved into Industrial Machine work. In 1970 Walter married Belinda Cary in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1974 they moved to Moundville where he started work as an Automotive Machinist at Warrior Machine Shop. Walter then worked as an Automotive Machinist for Bell Auto, NAPA and Automotive/Carquest. He enjoyed building and working on racing motors. He was especially good with the old Dodge muscle cars. Walter was very particular and meticulous with his work. He was the kind of person that could build or repair just about anything. Walter retired in 2016 after over forty years as an Automotive Machinist. He then spent his time studying his Bible and working in the yard, both of which he greatly enjoyed. Walter was a member of Crestline Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, Sunday School teacher and in the choir. Walter loved his wife of fifty years and his children. He loved his grandchildren. He loved all of his family and friends. But most of all he loved Jesus and talked about Him to everyone. Walter wanted everyone to know Jesus and have the salvation that he did.
