Virginia Hamilton Moody, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2019 at Heritage Health Care in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was born November 21, 1928, in Cordova, Alabama, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Eloise Lane. Virginia graduated from Phillips High School, and then worked in the Birmingham area until after the war, when she married her love, Joseph Ray Hamilton, in 1949. She and her husband settled in Forestdale, Alabama, and had three children,the late Lana Ray Nassaney, the late Joseph Kevin Hamilton and Shamblin Lane Hamilton. After thirty years of marriage, her husband Joseph passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. She later met and married her second love, William Dewayne Moody (W.D), and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage surrounded by children and grandchildren, and they enjoyed traveling to visit family. W.D. died of a heart attack in 1994, and Virginia enjoyed her remaining years with family and her church. She loved the Lord, and was a life-long member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Virginia was also preceded in death by her brother Jerome, and her three sisters, Earnestine, Levenia, and Flora Mae. She is survived by her son Shamblin Hamilton of Birmingham, grandchildren; Katlin Hamilton, Shane Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton, Lillie Hamilton, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her daughter- in- law LeGwen Hamilton, and her son-in-law George Nassaney,Jr. Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2019, followed by a service of remembrance at 11:00 am at First Church of the Nazarene, 1998 Shades Crest Road, Birmingham, AL., officiated by Pastor Fred Johns. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, where Virginia will be laid to rest next to both of her loving husbands. Those wishing to send remembrances may do so with flowers or donations to First Church of the Nazarene.
