Virginia Jones

Virginia Ruth Hawthorne Jones, of Buhl, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, covered with the love and comfort of family. Jenny was born on October 27, 1954 to the late Alberta and Eloise Hawthorne and was one of 10 children. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of almost 52 years, Cecil W. Jones, her siblings Allene Madison and Philip Hawthorne, her son Josh (Wynn), her daughter Eva (Elliott), and the true lights of her life her grandchildren Caleb Thorne McPherson, Olivia Jones Hoban (Christian), Natalie Cecelia Jones, and Gray Elliott McPherson.

Jenny graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1973 and served her community for many years as a postmaster for the United States Postal Service with the majority of those years in Coker, Alabama. After retiring from the Postal Service she completed a lifetime dream of attending nursing school and becoming a Registered Nurse working at DCH. Jenny did all of this while also serving God and humanity through her church, volunteering, and going on medical and dental mission trips to Honduras, Guatemala, and other less privileged areas.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home, 4905 Hwy. 69 North, Northport, AL 35473, with Bro. Shaun Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 Friday at the funeral home.
