Vernon Jacobs

Vernon "Dave"� Jacobs, age 72, of Northport, died Sept. 25, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campground United Methodist Church with Frances Prickett, Rev. George Jackson, and Bro. Rick Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rosie Jacobs; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jean M. Jacobs; daughter, Rhonda J. Camp (Tony); son, David Randall Jacobs; sisters, Doris Marcum and Irene Jacobs; brothers, Jerry and Otis Jacobs; and grandchildren, Landon and Meagan Camp. Pallbearers will be Wayne Montgomery, J.B. Montgomery, Richard Jacobs, Ricky Williamson, Randy Smith, Buster Bolton, James Camp, Bud Strickland, and James Pugh. Honorary pallbearers are Campground and Sulphur Springs Churches, Samantha Volunteer Fire Department, Drs. Hinton and Graham and staff of DCH Cancer Center, Dr. G. Aldridge, Dr. Lewis, Dr. Howe, DCH Emergency Room, DCH 6 North staff, Hospice of West Alabama, Winn Dixie 43 North Pharmacy, friends, and relatives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Campground United Methodist Church or cemetery fund or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
