Verner Louis Beams NORTHPORT - Verner Louis Beams, age 84, of Northport, Ala., died January 22, 2017, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Sessoms officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be today, January 24, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Alice Dean Beams, parents Wilma Parker and John Tobias Beams and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include daughters; Cathy Leonard (Larry), and Wanda Hallman (Ronnie) sons; Wendell Beams (Susan Williams) and David Alan Beams brother; Dwight Beams (Dorothy) grandchildren; Cheryl Hannah (Rocky), James Haynie, Chad Leonard (Michelle), Candace Hollingsworth (Johnny), Wendy Fields (Bruce) and 14 great grandchildren. He retired from Alabama Power Co. after 42 years. He was a loving Daddy with a big heart. If you went to his house you would always leave with something that he thought you could use. He loved helping people. Our greatest memory was when he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 79. He had such an impact on so many people's lives, that he will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be Rocky Hannah, Chad Leonard, Cody Haynie, Steven Sturdivant, Johnny Hollingsworth, and Bruce Fields. Honorary pallbearers will be Amedisys Hospice, Kimberly Bigham, Ken and Jill Swindle, Banks Stiens, Alabama Power Co.,Arbor Springs Baptist Church, and residence of the Samantha Community. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice in Verner's name.
