NORTHPORT - Troy Jackson "Jackie" McAteer, (The Train Man) age 81, of Northport, Ala., passed away December 16, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Sardis Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Adcox, Bro. Dan Turman and Bro. Roger Lucas, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Magnolia Chapel North. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Millie McAteer; and daughter-in-law, Mandi McAteer.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda Robertson McAteer; sons, Troy Patrick McAteer (Tena) and Rocky McAteer; five grandchildren, Kailey McAteer (Tyler Kelly), Karley McAteer, Colby Oswalt (Amber), Averyl Simmons (Thomas) and Amber Hogue (Michael); nine great-grandchildren, Brinkley Kelly, Dominic Patrick Oswalt, Ivy and Kailynne Sellers, Andi Jones, Remi, Gunner, Micah and Nevaeh Hogue.
Pallbearers are Troy Patrick McAteer, Kenneth Pritchett, Jason McCracken, Darryl Robertson, Kevin Robertson, Scotty Hickman and Barry Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Gilliam, Dr. McKenzie, Dr. Corder, Dr. Weems, nurses and support staff at DCH.
