Tracy Sanford

Tracy Elise Thompson Sanford, age 55, departed from this life on January 28, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jessie Sanford, of Fosters, Alabama; her daughter, Elise Sanford Meyer, and son-in-law, Blake Meyer, of Fosters, Alabama; her brother, Jacob Thompson (Rachel) of Duncanville, Alabama; her sister-in-law, Debbie Hubbard (Joey) of Northport, Alabama; and her extended community of family and friends.
Tracy was reunited in death with her parents, Barney and June Thompson; her grandparents, George and Romie Simpson and Dillard and Mert Thompson; and many relatives and friends who have gone before her.

Tracy was born on October 1, 1965 and lived in Brent, Alabama; Owensboro, Kentucky; and Northport, Alabama. Tracy was a loving daughter to her parents, who cherished her greatly. She did her very best to take care of them throughout her life and it is a comfort to know they are together now.
In 1989, Tracy met and married Jessie Sanford and began building a family in Fosters, Alabama. She and Jessie were married for 31 years, always sticking together no matter what challenges life brought. Tracy and Jessie have one daughter, Elise Nicole, who is the light of their lives. Tracy was a wonderful mom and best friend to Elise. Their combined laughter was constant and contagious. Elise was her pride and joy. Two of Tracy’s proudest moments were Elise’s graduation from the University of Tennessee in May 2019 and Elise and Blake’s wedding on October 24, 2020.
Tracy was a 1983 graduate of Apollo High School in Owensboro, Kentucky, and still visited to see her dear childhood and high school friends. She spent much of her career at Regions Bank and at Rosen Harwood law firm, where her bright smile and friendly manner welcomed everyone who entered. Tracy also made many friends who are like family through her church, Grant’s Creek Baptist, where she taught Sunday School and was a vital part of the community. Truly, Tracy made friends wherever she went. She had an active and playful sense of humor, bringing joy and laughter to every occasion.
Tracy was a teacher of kindness by example, embodying love and grace through her actions. She did her best to behave as Jesus Christ instructed toward everyone around her. Tracy made this world a better place and brightened the lives of the people who knew her. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. We love you, Tracy, best in all the world.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UAB and DCH; partners, staff, and clients of Rosen Harwood; and the many friends and relatives who have provided food, donations, and fellowship during Tracy's extended battle with cancer and since her untimely passing.
