Tommy Holmes

Tommy Holmes, age 69 of Northport, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on May 2, 2019, at Hospice of West Alabama. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11:00 am at Buhl Church of God with Pastor David Kelly officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

He is preceded in death by his father Beecher Holmes, and mother Emily Holmes Beams and his nephew Jonathan Holmes .

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Brenda Holmes, daughters; Wendi Roberts (Michael), Heather Herron Cartee (Mike), his grandchildren; Kristin Skelton, Tyler Roberts, Katelynn Roberts, Josh Herron, Jon Caden Herron, and Emily Grace Herron, sister; Diane Holmes (Vern) and brother; David Holmes.

Tommy was a resident of the Buhl community for over 30 years and retired from the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education Maintenance Department and also retired from Freeman Electric. Tommy had a love for music and enjoyed playing his guitars and singing for his family. His compassion to help others was a blessing and he will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank his lifetime friend Jeanie McKnight for being there throughout his last couple of months and for the care and love that his nurse's (angels) Nikki Hammond, and Kaylee and Monica provided.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buhl Church of God family, Wallace and Sherry Marshall (Britney), and Hoyt and Nancy Fondren.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
