Terry McCray
MOUNDVILLE - Terry McCray, age 62, of Moundville, Ala., passed away October 1, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. His graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to service at the graveside.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Paul McCray.
Survivors include his brothers, Richard McCray (Lana) and Rob McCray (Tabatha); mother, Dorothy McCray; nephews, Brandon McCray and Robert McCray; niece, Katie McCray; and beloved dog, Buddy.
Terry was a beloved brother, son and friend. He grew up as a military child until settling with his family in Moundville, Ala. Terry was known throughout the southeast as one of the region's most talented guitarists, most notably as the lead guitarist in the Tuscaloosa-based rock band, Valhalla, during the 1970's and 80's. Terry enjoyed fishing, astronomy and was a collector of rare antiquities. He was loved by his family and friends. His unique personality and sense of humor will be missed.
Pallbearers will be Bill Campbell, Andy Smelley, Chris Ballard, Curt Smelley, Brandon McCray and David Williams.
