Suzanne Watkins
TUSCALOOSA - Suzanne Watkins, age 77, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away September 22, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at First United Methodist of Northport with Rev. Mike Spivey, Rev. Tim Barnes and Rev. Ben Jameson officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2018, at Magnolia Chapel North. The body will lie in state 10-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sue White; husband, Bibb G. Watkins, Sr.; and son, William Geoffrey Watkins.
Survivors include her special friend, Mr. Buddy Andoe; sons, Bibb Graves Watkins, Jr. (Terri) and Franklin Guy Watkins (Tammy); grandchildren, Riley Jo Watkins, Bibb Graves Watkins, III (Trace), William Taylor Watkins, Jerry Blake Watkins, Kylie Layne Watkins and Kiera Rayne Watkins; and great-grandchildren, Mason Harper Watkins, Madden Hunt Watkins and William Hudson Watkins.
Mrs. Watkins was born in Birmingham, Ala. and raised in Florence, Ala. She graduated from Coffee High School and completed her Registered Nurse degree at The University of Alabama.
She married Bibb Graves Watkins in 1962 and was a wonderful wife and mother to three handsome boys. She continued to volunteer at DCH Hospital. She was a longtime active member of Northport First United Methodist Church and also attended Five Points and Englewood regularly. Mrs. Watkins was the very definition of a Steele Magnolia and will be remembered and loved by all.
Pallbearers will be Butch Thomas, Chris Davis, Tyler Davis, Todd Shirley, Ryan Shirley, Rich Cooper, Dawson Benton and Craig Andoe.
Honorary pallbearers are former coworkers of Tuscaloosa County Health Department, employees of Watkins Construction Co., employees of S T Bunn Construction Co., members of DCH Volunteer Services for DCH Regional Medical Center, Joe Pete and Jimmie G. Hayes, Charles and Karen Melson, Ya-Ya friends, and extended Watkins family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northport First United Methodist Church or the Manderson Cancer Center.
