Sidney Roswell Duncan | STEWART Sidney Roswell Duncan, age 88, of Stewart, died Aug. 29, 2010. Graveside services were 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Concord Cemetery with Glenn Gant officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. His daughter, Pamela Duncan, grandson, Jeremy Smith, brothers, John William Duncan and Roland Duncan, and sister, Eloise Foster, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruby Boley Duncan; daughters, Theresa Duncan (Chuck) Smith and Robin Duncan (Don) Maughan; son, Steve Duncan (Cassandra); sister, Jean Duncan Griffin; brothers, Glenn Duncan and Stanley Duncan; grandchildren, Jason Smith, Ben Smith, and Hunter Duncan; and great-grandchild, Caleb Smith. Mr. Duncan worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 42 years, retiring as Postmaster. He was very instrumental in getting the 911 service for Hale County. He was also an active member of the Amateur Radio Club of Tuscaloosa for a number of years. Pallbearers were Robert Humphreys, Jason Smith, Mervin Hoggle, Hunter Duncan, Billy Stokes, and Keith Duncan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amedysis Hospice of Tuscaloosa. The family would also like to especially thank his two caregivers, Willie Nell Johnson and Pam Hill. The family would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Hoggle for all their kindness.
