Shirley Cook

Shirley Diane Cook, age 72 of Moundville, passed away July 19, 2022 at Grandview Medical Center. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Hershel  Beard and Willie May Beard, son; Phillip Dewayne Cook, sisters; Willa Dean Beard, Ann Coley, Jeanette Stripling, brothers; Steve, Randy, Junior, Danny, Michael, Theron, and Buddy Beard.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years 6 months and 9 days, Sonny Cook, daughters; Diane McDaniel (Tony), Sharlene Averette (Curtis), Crystal James (Richard), sister; Betty Stripling, brother; Joel Beard, grandchildren; Stephanie Free (Wesley), Michael Mitchell, Adam McDaniel (Geri), Amber Mitchell, Joshua McDaniel (Kimber), Samantha McDaniel, Blake Cook (Brianna), Ava James, Daylin James, Haley Cook, Katie Cook, Austin Cook, Lee Averette (Morgan), Anthony Averette and 27 great grandchildren.

Shirley was a faithful woman of God, who loved her family and friends. To know her was to love her. She had a heart of pure gold. She was the strongest and bravest woman we had the privilege of knowing. She will be truly missed by all.

Pallbearers will be Blake Cook, Michael Mitchell, Austin Cook, Adam McDaniel, Joshua McDaniel, Daylin James, Wesley Free, J.T. Champion, Mark Lott, and Nate Champion.

Honorary pallbearers are all the CICU staff at Grandview Medical Center and the office of Dr. Larry Skelton.
