Sharon Walker Fair, 74 of Ralph , passed away October 17, 2024 at Hospice of West Alabama. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11:30 am at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Ralph, Alabama with Rev. Jim Lavender officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Ross and Margie Walker, and brother, Ross Walker Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence Fair, sons Kevin Fair (Leigh Ann), Keith Fair (Jennifer), grandchildren Haiden (Tyler), Karsyn (Jayden), Ellyn and Jackson Fair, great granddaughter, Ella Wayne Fair, nephew, Jeff Walker (Amber), great nephews, Gunner and Miller Walker and many other special relatives.
Sharon was a lifelong resident of Ralph, Alabama where she was instrumental in helping her parents acquire a loan to start the Fosters Ralph Water Authority. She continued to serve as the office manager for 17 years. She was a member of the Tuscaloosa County High class of 1968. After her children reached school age, Sharon went back to school earning her BSN from the Capstone College of Nursing. She began her nursing career in 1982 at what is now known as Northport DCH and then worked at Tuscaloosa DCH until retirement. After a short retirement, she decided to continue her service to others working as a home health care nurse for Hospice of West Alabama until her final retirement in 2019. Sharon was an active member of the Alfa Farmers Federation women’s committee. Sharon’s love and care for others wasn’t only reserved for her patients, but for all she encountered. She was quick to share a warm smile, kind words and helping hand. In 2017, Sharon was diagnosed with MDS and begin treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. After a couple of years she received a leukemia diagnosis which led to her bone marrow transplant in March 2024. She continued to fight to the end with unwavering faith.
