Sarah Mills

Sarah H. Mills, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, died Nov. 13, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Dr. Mark McCormick officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Hamner; her brothers, Vassie Hamner, Ezekiel Hamner, and Frank Hamner; her sisters, Dorothy Pate, Mary Frances Hamner, and Katherine Rogers; and her grandchild, Kimberly Foley. Survivors include her husband, Joe H. Mills; her daughter, Joan Foley (Don); her sons Glen Mills and Gary Mills (Teresa); her sister, Della Robbins; her brother, Clarence Hamner; her grandchildren, Joseph Mills (Shayla), Johnthan Mills, and Jessica Elmore (Jason); and her great-grandchildren, Major Mills and Ella Grace Elmore. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She loved to sing in the choir, and she devoted many hours researching the history of the church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to fish, watch Atlanta Braves baseball, and work in her flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by all. Pallbearers will be Joseph Mills, Johnthan Mills, Charlie Hamner, Craig Hamner, Clark Hamner, and Mike Robbins. Honorary pallbearers are friends of Bethel Presbyterian community, friends and neighbors of Sexton Bend community, nursing staff at Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. John Warren, and Dr. George Miller. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
