Katherine Cunningham Meadows | NORTHPORT Katherine Cunningham Meadows, age 95, of Northport, died April 2, 2011, at Glen Haven Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Harry Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Mrs. Meadows was born June 2, 1915, in Bern, Ala. to Alfred Benjamin and Savannah Sellers Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Meadows, Sr.; daughter, Christine Meadows Avery; grandson, Jeff Avery; son-in-law, Gunnery Sgt. John Mark Avery; and granddaughter, Jennifer Meadows Narrimore. In past years Katherine operated a restaurant at the Tuscaloosa Airport in one of the barracks used in World War II and trained with the American Red Cross for emergency procedures and first aid. She was a senior member of the Tuscaloosa Civil Air Patrol Squadron, served as an Avon representative, and was a member of Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Paul (Faye) Meadows, Jr.; two daughters, Glenda Harbison and Ann (McCoy) Pitt; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family would like to thank those who visited and prayed for Katherine during her confinement.
