Ruth Cannon

Ruth M. Cannon, age 89, of Northport, Alabama, passed away November 9, 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Campground United Methodist Church with Bro. Paul Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Cordia Miles; her husband and son, Ray and David Cannon; and sisters, Vaudine, Viola and Leona.

Survivors include one sister, Irene Baity (Frank); one granddaughter, Danielle Cannon (Justus); numerous step and adopted grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Throughout her lifetime, Ruth was best known for her faithful dedication to serve those around her. She was described as “gutsy”, spunky, and legendary during her journey here on Earth. A wonderfully, adventurous soul is now rejoicing with her closest friends and loved ones. We all love her and miss her, but know Heaven is so lucky to have her.

Pallbearers will be Joe, Graham and Nick Limbaugh, Sam Appling, Mike Bagwell, and Robert Tanner.

Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Rodgers, Rick and Nan Crites, Frank Baity, Henry and Diane Hinds and the rest of the Northside Community that loved-on her and helped care for her. We especially want to honor her caregiver and friend, Ginger Ward for the endless love and adventure she gave to our sweet Ruth in her final months.

A special thank you to Hospice of West Alabama for giving her peace and comfort as her journey came to an end.
