Magdalene Ruth Chism Brown NORTHPORT Magdalene Ruth "Jean"� Chism Brown, age 92, a native of Northport, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at Greenfield Senior Living in Memphis, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Taylor Chism and Ruth Laycock Chism; husband, Noble Albert Brown; sister, Eleanor Simpson; and brother, Frederick Chism. She is survived by her sisters, Sarah Miller, Mildred Morrison (Dan), and Sue Prewitt (Ralph); brothers, Ben Chism and Walter Chism (Virginia); sons, Rae and Ron Brown; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brown lived all over the world. She was a championship bowler, a talented ceramic painting instructor, and a member of the Tuscaloosa County High School Hall of Fame. She was also a longtime member of Northport First United Methodist Church, which her grandfather built. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Bone Camp Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Northport First United Methodist Church or Tuscaloosa County High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.
