Rufus Edwin King
Rufus Edwin "Bro. Ed" King, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2019. Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Albert Lyles, and Brother Leon Winters officiating , burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville with Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel South before the service.
He is preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Alma King and his sister June Hicks.
He is survived by his wife Shirley McCluskey King, his spiritual daughters; Leigh Ann Pool and Kathy Chandler, sons; Tim King (Carla), Johnny King (Sonya), Scotty King (Leah) , sister; Nell Gray, grandchildren; Wesley King, Jacob King (Jessica), Dalton King (Abigail) , RaeAnn King, Caroline King and Brooke Hastings (Jordan) and his two great granddaughters arriving in February and April.
Bro. Ed served as Minister for Main Street Baptist Church of Birmingham, Shiloh Baptist Church of Ralph, Moundville Baptist Church, Rosedale Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, and Crestline Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa.He proudly served his country as a 3rd Class Petty Officer Hospital Corp Man in the United States Navy.
Pallbearers will be his sons Tim, Johnny, and Scotty King and his grandsons Wesley, Jacob, Dalton King and Ken Ryan. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the churches he served, Hale County Class of 1952, and ordained sons in the ministry.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Crestline Baptist Church.
