Rudolph Gibson

Rudolph Valentino "Rudy"� Gibson, age 84, of Northport, died Nov. 23, 2011, at Northport Medical Center-DCH. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Bro. Carl Koster officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be today from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Salmon and her husband Danny Salmon; his son, Nicky Gibson; his father and mother, Cam and Pearl (Moore) Gibson; his sisters, Ann Regan and Imelda Hodges; and his brothers, Winton, Wilford, Alvis, and Cameron. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Dyer Gibson; his daughter, Melanie Gibson; his nephews, Clyde Gibson (Sandra) and Gaylon Gibson (Kathleen); his nieces, Gail Gibson, Karen Partlow, Karen Sims (Jerry), and Gwen Nicholas (David); his brother, Edward N. Gibson; his grandchildren, Zack Gibson of Austin, Texas, Brett Gibson (Angie) of Mountain Brook, and Heath Gibson of Charleston, S.C.; his great-grandchildren, Hayes, Grayson, Mary Claire, Libby, and Norah; and his beloved feline friend, Pumba. He graduated from Martin High School in Lauderdale County, Miss. Rudy was in furniture sales and retired from Spiller Furniture in Northport and Bridges Furniture in Tuscaloosa. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and watching baseball, basketball, and his beloved Crimson Tide football. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, his nephews, and Mickey Fair. Honorary pallbearers are Laura and J.T. Beasley, Carl and Frances Lett, Doug and Gerda Hawthorne, John Williamson, Bruce and Mary Gibson, Dale Whitcomb, Tony Brown, James Spiller family, Mr. and Mrs. Minor Medders and Debbie, Bill and Melinda Benford, Bridges Furniture family, friends and neighbors of Vestavia Hills, K-Mart Pharmacy staff, Dr. John Summerford, Dr. William Hill, Dr. David Hinton, Dr. Melanie Graham, and Dr. Patrick Bruce Atkins.
