Ruby Talley Carpenter Cleary, age 84, of Northport, Ala. died August 17, 2017, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Northport Church of God with Rev. Greg Strickland and Rev. Ronnie Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Ida Talley; husbands, Billy Carpenter and E. J. Cleary; brothers, Lewis Talley, Alfred Talley, Leroy Talley, Authur Talley and Charles Talley; and sister, Lucile Marcum. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Sanders (Ronnie); brother, Melvin Talley; grandchildren, Jeremy Sanders (Kandy), Nicole Shaw (Jim) and Lori Stokes (Matthew); and great-grandchildren, Sam Miller, Olivia Sanders, Everett Sanders, Madison Shaw, Carter Shaw, Jack Stokes, Lucy Stokes and Oliver Stokes. Ruby was born in Cullman County and was one of ten children. She was the first in her family to graduate high school. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed many years working at the State of Alabama Revenue Office. Known to her co-workers and customers as ""Ms. Ruby,"" she loved her church and was a faithful member of Northport Church of God for almost 60 years. She was a kind and compassionate woman that was always taking care of everyone. She can now say ""I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have kept the faith."" Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sanders, Jim Shaw, Matthew Stokes, Sam Miller, Donnie Talley and Robert Talley. Honorary pallbearers are members and friends of Northport Church of God, Amedysis Hospice and Home Health Care, special friends, Domino buddies, Lola Talley, Alice Smalley, Eula Phillips and Pat Fair which is a friend and caretaker.
