Ross Herman Walker RALPH Ross Herman Walker, age 85, of Ralph, died Feb. 2, 2013, at home. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Chapel South with Rev. Donald Springer and Rev. Lyn Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Sue Philips Walker of Ralph; brothers, Tom, Phillip, Sam, Claude, and Glenn; sisters, Mary Dean, Jayne Fry, Florence Barton, and Minnie Sue McCain; and son, Ross H. Walker Jr. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Margie Burns Walker; daughter, Sharon W. Fair (Lawrence) of Ralph; daughter-in-law, Pat H. Walker; sisters-in-law, Ella Walker and Doris Walker; grandchildren, Kevin Fair, Keith Fair, and Jeff Walker, all of Ralph, and Bradley Walker of Tuscaloosa; and great grandchildren, Haiden, Karsyn, Ellyn, and Jackson Fair. He loved his family dearly, and one of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His perfected peanut brittle was enjoyed by many family and friends, along with the garden vegetables that he shared. Former jobs include: Burchfield Wholesale Grocery, International Milling Co., and Roysters Fertilizer Co. He established a fertilizer spreading business and owned a country store in Ralph. He helped establish the Fosters/ Ralph Water Authority, where he served as Secretary/ Treasurer for over 30 years. He served on the Board of Directors of Tuscaloosa County Farmers Federation for 45 years. He was past president of the Tuscaloosa County Cattleman's Association, and received Father of the Year award in 1989. He was named Farmer of the Year in 2007, by Tuscaloosa Kiwanis Club. Pallbearers will be Jeff Walker, Kevin, Keith, Haiden, and Karsyn Fair, and Glenn Walker. Honorary pallbearers are firneds and neighbors of Ralph, Fosters, and Romulus communities, Board of Directors of Tuscaloosa County Farmers Federation, Dean and Angie Wysner, Judy Liverman, and Paul and Shirley Peebles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery Fund in Ralph, or to Eagles Wings in Northport.
