Robert L. Wiggins MOUNDVILLE Robert L. "Slick"� Wiggins, age 93, of Moundville, died Feb. 10, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Moundville Baptist Church with Bro. Don Smith and Bro. Ed King officiating. Private family burial will take place at Carthage Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie T. Wiggins; his parents, John and Lizzie Wiggins; three brothers, Rufus, Ford, and Jessie; two sisters, Lillie Mae Tidmore and Lucille Griffin; and one grandchild, Leigh Anne Erwin. Survivors include his daughters, Sandra W. Porter (John), Susann Lawley (Willie), Sara "Gigi"� Oliver (Denny), and Marsha W. Stough; his son, Robert A. "Tony"� Wiggins (Barbara); nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved camping, fishing, gardening, and occasionally writing poetry. Robert got his nickname "Slick"� while in high school playing as a running back in football. He served 41 years as a deacon for Moundville Baptist Church and was selected Deacon Emeritus on August 10, 2008. He worked 38 years for BF Goodrich Tire Company in Tuscaloosa. He served 18 months in the U.S. Navy. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers are active and inactive deacons of Moundville Baptist Church, caregivers Sylvie Nell Hoggle and Maudine Taylor, and special granddaughter Dede Wheat. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Moundville Baptist Church Debt Reduction Fund, 150 5th Ave., Moundville, AL 35474; or Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
