Robert Paul Vaughn beloved husband of Laura, died peacefully in his home, in Tavares, Florida, surrounded by his family. Robert was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan with his brother Carlos, both sons of George and Agnes (Wilson) Vaughn, formerly of Tuscaloosa Alabama. He graduated from Redford High School in 1961, joined the Air Force in 1962, and served in Vietnam. He continued his career in aviation as an aircraft mechanic at Detroit Metropolitan Airport for over 37 years while raising a family with Laura Jean. Upon retirement, he and Laura moved to Tavares, Florida, where they built a house and made a new home. He also continued his lifelong passion for aviation by serving as a member and past President of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 534.at Leesburg Airport, happily building and restoring home-built and experimental aircraft. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends:his wife of 35 years, Laura Jean (Baron), son Tige; daughter, Laura Ellen (Jason Ellis) and son, Jeffrey (Lavinia Ganea), and their mother Janice Kosker (Noftz); brother, Carlos (Louise Sleeman); nephews, Aaron (Christa Schueller) and Adam (Shelley Housey) and their mother Betty (Chen); one granddaughter, Tara Ellis-Vaughn; lifelong friends Bruce u0026 Kim McElhaney, Johnny and Phillip Thompson, and dear friends Dale and Jane Cornelius. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Agnes Vaughn, interment of ashes at the grave site of is parents, Williamson Cemetery, Northport Alabama, November 11, 2018 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to EAA Chapter 534, Leesburg International Airport, 8807 Airport Boulevard, Suite 103 Leesburg, Florida 34788 for the Young Eagle/Youth Program, which introduces youth from 8-17 to aviation.
