Robert O. "Jack" Morrison
MOUNDVILLE } Robert O. "Jack" Morrison, age 80 of Moundville, died June 4, 2018 at Moundville Health and Rehab. Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at Moundville United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Cobb and Bro. Chris Keeney officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the church prior to the service.
He is preceded in death by his sister; Shelby Morrison Shaw.
Survivors include his wife; Amanda Morrison, daughter; Ginny Haynes, son; Michael O. Morrison (Rachael), his twin brother Rufus N. Morrison and his grandchildren; Emily and Jackson Doran, Tyler, Blake, Grace and Alex Morrison, Shelby Land, Laura Beth and Anna Katherine Haynes.
Jack joined the Army National Guard in 1955 and served forty three years. In that same year he started work at the Moundville Telephone Company , retiring in 2003 after forty eight years. In 1963, he joined the Moundville Masonic Lodge #123, and received his 50 year pin. In 1964, he began his thirty two year career as a fire chief for the Town of Moundville and also that same year he became the leader of the Moundville Rescue Squad serving them for thirty four years. In 1965 he was elected to council for the Town of Moundville , where he served for twenty years. In 1993 , Jack became a member of the Hale County Ambulance Board, where he served as a chairperson to date. He was the Mayor of Moundville from 1994 ~ 2001. Jack was a member of the Moundville United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Chris Shaw, Drake Shaw, Travis Loggins, Patrick Morrison, Evan Wheat, Dawayne Hardy and Greg Siavelis. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Larry Skelton, Employees of Hale Co. EMS, Employees of Moundville Telephone Company.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Moundville United Methodist Church or Hale County EMS.
