Robert Virgil Johnson, 82, of Greensboro died at UAB Hospital Saturday, October 20, 2018.
Virgil was born November 24, 1935 to parents John and Minnie Johnson. He worked with the Hale County Highway Department for over 30 years.
He was known in the community for his integrity and humor; with a joke and a firm handshake to share. His family and friends marveled over his meticulous care of his yard and garden.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Polly Hoggle Johnson and daughters Diane Lavender (Frank) of Summerville, South Carolina and Kay Johnson of Pelham, Alabama. His only grandchild is Chelsea Lavender Payne (Taylor) of Birmingham, Alabama and great grandchild Avett William Payne.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22nd at 11 o'clock at the Greensboro Bible Methodist Church with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Fondren, Rick Arrington, Buddy Pickel, Michael Clemmer, Mark Clemmer and Rocky Goode.
