Robert Earl Colburn TUSCALOOSA | Robert Earl Colburn, age 90, of Tuscaloosa, died December 19, 2014, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014, at Magnolia Chapel South, with Joel Gorvette, John Vaughn, and Scott Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight, December 21, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Nettie Colburn; son, Michael Colburn; brother, Edward Colburn; and sister, Jean Colburn Stone. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Colburn of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughters, Angie Freeman Pugh (Randy), Jimmie Jean Burchfield (John), and Brenda Freeman Snider (Mike); son, Robert C Colburn (Carol); sisters, Mary Wheeler (Charles), Helen Crispell, and Sue Morrow; brother, Leonard Colburn (Ann); grandchildren, Ross Colburn (Kimmy), Amanda Estep (Ralph), Matthew Pugh, Mandie Pugh Malone (Chase), Randi Michelle Pugh, Austin Corley, Dylan Corley, Carlie Snider, Colbi Snider, Blake Burchfield, and Colby Burchfield; and great-grandchildren, Kaden and Grayson Colburn, Shelby and Lane Estep, and Ford and Mallie Malone. In 1941, Robert joined the United States Army at the age of 17, and was stationed and served at Pearl Harbor. Later in life, he worked for and retired from Gulf States Paper and The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Robert was an avid supporter of Alabama Athletics, and served on the UA Event Staff for many years. Robert was a friend to all, and he never met a stranger. Pallbearers will be Ross Colburn, Matthew Pugh, Austin Corley, Dylan Corley, Blake Burchfield, Colby Burchfield, Chase Malone, and Marty Weaver. Honorary pallbearers are UA Athletics Dept., ""Red Coats,"" First Wesleyan Church, Dennis and Jan Stokes, Michael Hopkins, Dr. Pam Hughes, Dr. Brian Wilhite, Martha Jane and David Tyner. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Club 56 at First Wesleyan Church.
