Richmond Hobson "Hob" Thrasher NORTHPORT Richmond Hobson "Hob"� Thrasher, age 97, of Northport, died May 20, 2013, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Thrasher; an infant son and daughter; his parents, Will and Susie Thrasher; his brothers, Ed, Odis, Jack, Josh, Webb, Howard, and Ray Thrasher; and his sisters, Lucille Thrasher, Eula Weems, Evie Phillips, and Flora Weldon. Survivors include his daughters, Jan Wedgeworth and Pat Lynn of Northport; his sisters-in-law, Dean Thrasher, Nita Thrasher, Emily Thrasher, Tillie Sullivan, and Doris Dunkling; his brother-in-law, Thomas Dunkling (Doris); grandchildren, Scot Wedgeworth, Michele Bolton (Todd), and Bart Lynn Sr. (Karen) of Northport; and great-grandchildren, Autumn, Anslee, and Ady Bolton, and Bart Jr. and Josh Lynn. He worked for 55 years and retired from Brown Wood Preserving Co. He enjoyed fishing, playing his fiddles and other musical instruments that he made himself, listening to Bluegrass music, and whittling. He touched many lives through his talents as a musician and a woodcarver. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. We could not have asked for a better Daddy and PaPa. We were blessed to have him in our lives for over 97 years. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Tim Skelton, Kenneth and Kameron Thrasher, Phillip Sullivan, Morris Thrasher, Howard Dunkling, Cecil Thrasher, and Todd Bolton. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Ellis, James Wedgeworth, Nicholas Johnson, Mike Collins, Foy Bobo, Denny Sanford, the late Deidra Holloway, Jennifer Smith of FOCUS, the families of Vern Skinner, Buster Bolton, James Montgomery, Charles Bagwell, Hubert Black, Charles Humber, Michael Thrasher, James Odom, Jimmy Carroll, Terry West, the friends of the Brownville community and Coffee Club, Pinedale Subdivision, Tuscaloosa Lake Opry, County Line and The Junction, Dr. James Robinson and staff, staff of Hospice of West Alabama, and countless other special friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of West Alabama and the Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
