Richard Wade Holtzhauer, age 65, of Northport, Alabama, passed away January 31, 2023, at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Born in Washington, DC on April 30, 1957, Rick was raised in Woodbridge, VA. A few years after graduating from Woodbridge High School, Rick enlisted in the US Navy in October 1981. A 20-year veteran, Rick proudly served with the Seabees until his retirement in 2002. During his career, Rick was stationed in Port Hueneme (CA), Makri, Greece and Sewells Point Norfolk (VA). He served two tours in Souda Bay, Crete, and spent much of his career as a technician with Mobile Utilities Support Equipment (MUSE).
After his retirement, Rick earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) in 2008. A technology and computer enthusiast for many years, Rick was often called upon to repair IT hardware for his many siblings. To his family’s relief, there was no problem he couldn’t fix.
