Rev. Thomas B. Vaughn NORTHPORT | Rev. Thomas B. Vaughn, age 79, of Northport, Ala., passed away on July 411, 2014, at Glen Haven Nursing Home in Northport, Ala. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Magnolia Chapel North with Chaplain (LTC) Thomas B. Vaughn, Jr., Rev. Milton Wilson, Rev. Scott McQueen, Rev. Mike Griffin, and Rev. Ted Sessoms, officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas B. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Clarice Vaughn; and his brothers, Harold, Robert, Vernon, and Alton Vaughn. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Wyatt Vaughn of Northport, Ala.; daughter, Rhonda Vaughn Carr (Tony) of Northport, Ala.; sons, Thomas B. Vaughn, Jr. (Tracey) of Fort Belvoir, VA., and Edward R. Vaughn (Stacy) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Ann Vaughn of Cottondale, Ala.; and seven great- grandchildren, Ashley Carr Rogers of Northport, Ala., Jessica Vaughn Sampler (Justin) of Inola, OK, Kittrina Vaughn Davis (Bradley) of Inola, OK, Emily Vaughn Sweetman (Tim) of Washington, D.C., Zachary Vaughn of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Tera Vaughn of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Riley Vaughn of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Reverend Thomas B. Vaughn of Northport, Alabama, met his Savior face to face on July 11, 2014. He was 79 years old. Rev. Vaughn, a veteran of the United States Navy and the Alabama Army National Guard, faithfully served in Christian ministry for over 40 years. Known for his heart, compassion, and love for Jesus, he served as pastor of multiple churches in Tuscaloosa, Hale, Bibb, Fayette, Pickens and Marengo Counties, Director of Missions for the Sipsey Baptist Association, a short-term missionary to the Philippines, and spiritual shepherd to family and friends. Beloved by many, he will be greatly missed by all. Pallbearers will be Zachary Vaughn, Johnny Wyatt, Charles Wyatt, Tim Barger, Chuck Wyatt, Greg Barger, Jim Bowman, Tim Sweetman, and Rhen Bartlett. Honorary Pallbearers are David Vaughn, Butch Vaughn, Don Vaughn, Ricky Vaughn, Pat Beams, Dwight Beams, Verner Beams, Dennis Vaughn and Charles Markin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the International Missions Board (www.imb.org) to support Christian missions in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
