Reba Tierce Gilliam SAMANTHA Reba Tierce Gilliam, age 92, of Samantha, passed away March 16, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Campground United Methodist Church with Bro. George Jackson, Bro. Joe Jones, and Bro. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynnwood Gilliam; son, Larry Lynn Gilliam; parents, John and Lura Tierce; and brother, W.C. Tierce. She is survived by her son, Wynndall Gilliam of New Lexington; sisters, Eunice Lunceford and Evelyn Oswalt (Oliver); brother, John Doyle Tierce (Margaret); and sister-in-law, Grace Tierce. She was a lifetime resident of the Samantha and New Lexington communities where she was a homemaker, farmed with her husband, and helped her father run a cotton gin for many years. She also taught school at Etteca during World War II. She served diligently as the treasurer of the Campground Cemetery Board for 37 years and was a member of Campground United Methodist Church where she accepted Christ at the age of 15. She enjoyed watching her nieces and a nephew participate in school events and was an avid supporter of Northside sports. She loved nature walks, animals, flowers, butterflies, and quilting. Pallbearers will be Anthony Oswalt, Winfield Tierce, Terry Oswalt, Kyle Oswalt, Chris Olmstead, Terry Bigham, Tyler Bigham, John Walker III, and John Walker IV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or the charity of one's choice .
