Raymond J. Reidenbach NORTHPORT - Raymond J. Reidenbach, age 71, of Northport, Ala., died July 25, 2017, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Northport with Rev. John Drawhorn officiating. Entombment will follow in the Magnolia Mausoleum with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North. He was preceded in death by his mother, Berda Reidenbach and father, Raymond Reidenbach. Survivors include his wife, Carol Elaine Reidenbach; sons, John Raymond Reidenbach (Kym) and Mark Alan Reidenbach (Margaret) all of Northport, Ala.; and grandchildren, Emily Nicole Reidenbach, Andrew Wyatt Reidenbach and William George Reidenbach. Ray grew up an only child in Lititz, Pa. and slowly worked his way to a place with better football. He enjoyed challenges and learned how to do a wide variety of hobbies like building a HAM radio as a boy (self-taught), model railroads, rocketry and remote controlled aircraft. He liked computers before they were cool and this skill along with his adaptability and hard work drove his career. Ray earned a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Vocational Rehab to launch his career in Mental Health Management. Healthcare was a natural fit for someone with his compassion and desire to help others. Co-workers enjoyed his good humor and enjoyment of life while he delivered outstanding productivity. He applied his talents as Assistant Manager of Transitional Living Services in Buffalo, N.Y., Manager of Princeton Community Mental Health Center in Princeton, W.V., Manager of Crestview in Tuscaloosa and Manager of Patient Care Services at DCH Regional Medical Center. Ray and Carol raised two sons and taught them the values of education, hard work, having extracurricular activities and enjoying the important things in life like family and doing a job well. Ray had to be careful because the boys chose karate as their extra activity and both were black belts. He sat through multiple rank-tests and tournaments, always their biggest fan. Retirement activities included many birding trips and Ray loved the camera-techie aspects of the hobby. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and along with Carol thoroughly enjoyed their church involvement with classes, choir, food pantry and Stephen Ministry which provides support to people in crisis from trusted lay person counselors trained and assisted by Methodist ministers. For all these things and more he is remembered and loved by his wife, sons, grandchildren and many others. Pallbearers will be Bill Yessick, Robert Humphreys, Bill Massengale, Paul Bourgeiose, Scott Penuel and Larry White. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Caring Days in Ray's name.
