Ralph Alton Wallace, age 89, of Northport, Alabama, passed away peacefully October 8, 2024 at home with his family. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Magnolia Chapel North. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Ken Cheek officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel North directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Jinnie Lee Wallace; brothers, Morris Wallace, James Wallace, John Wallace, B. I. Wallace, Bud Wallace, Ben Wallace, Jr., and Tommy Wallace; sisters, Dovie Gregston and Janie Wallace; and stepson, Scotty Stephens.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Patricia “Pat” Wallace; daughter, Barbara Wallace (Pam); son, Tim Wallace, Alton Wallace, and David Wallace; stepsons, David Stephens (Sherri), Tommy Stephens (Becky), and Paul Stephens; sister-in-law, Ann Wallace; grandson, Max Wallace; eight step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Ralph was a Yeoman Seaman in the United States Navy, February 1956 – February 1962. He retired from Partlow State School as a Plumbing Foreman. He was the owner of Wallace & Sons Plumbing. Ralph was loved by all. He loved traveling, square dancing, fishing and storytelling. He was always spreading his knowledge of travels, experiences, and love for the Lord. He played and coached softball. Ralph was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. He loved his family and working in the yard and garden, blowing leaves, cutting grass, and gardening. Among the things that Ralph grew were tomatoes, peppers, and day lilies. He was always busy and outdoors.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his lifelong friend, Ralph Thornton, nephew, Curtis Wallace (Beverly), grandson, Brody Stephens, Mike and Janice Ballard, Sandy Brown and Betty Davis.
Pallbearers will be David Wallace, Curtis Wallace, Max Wallace, Charlie Parker, David Stephens, Brody Stephens, Tim Wallace, and Alton Wallace.
Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Thornton, Hospice of West Alabama nurses and doctors, Dr. Arnold, Retina Specialists of West Alabama, Chapel Hill Baptist Church, John Bowers and Ted Butler Sunday school classes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chapel Hill Baptist Church Building Fund – “Making Room”, and/or Hospice of West Alabama.
