Rachel Christian

Rachel Sanford Christian, age 76, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on March 28, 2023. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at Oregonia Baptist Church in Berry, Ala., with Bro. Curry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Sanford; daughter, Shelly Vickers; son, Yancy Christian.

Survivors include her daughters, Rhonda Carr (Tony) and Courtney Doss; son, Rodney Christian (Darlene); brother, Harold Sanford; grandchildren, Blake Rogers (Kassie), Candy Vickers (Corey), Cliff Vickers (Carol), Hunter Vickers, Matthew Christian (Jordan), Nathan James, and Nathan Carr; nine great-grands, and special companion, Prissy.

Rachel taught us endurance and perseverance, not with words but by her actions. She taught us that no matter what this life may bring we must, “Trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding,” (Prov. 3:5), because “The Lord is our Shepherd, we shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1).

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Blake, Matthew, Nathan, Cliff, Hunter; and Daniel Watson.

Honorary pallbearers will be residents of North River Village, staff of Northport Medical Center ICU. Special thanks to Andrea Watson.
