Rev. Phillip Lanese Egan COTTONDALE Rev. Phillip Lanese Egan, age 82, of Cottondale, went to live with Jesus Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Emmett Smith, Rev. Brooks Shoults, Rev. Philip Traywick, and Rev. Stanley Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens with Rev. Roger Lewis officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Sylvia Egan, and his brother, Rouvel Egan, all of Burr Ferry, La. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Caroline Goodwin Egan; his daughters, Phylis Egan, Sylvia Jordan (Theron Beard), and Rebeca Barrientos (Reginaldo); his son, Philip Lanese Egan II (Stephanie); his sister, Mary Brittian (W.H.); his brother, Darius Egan (Sandra); his grandchildren, Kendall Jordan (Jennifer), Brian Jordan (Linda), Rafael Barrientos (Diane), Rouvel Barrientos, Raquel Barrientos, Rebekah Barrientos, Owen Egan, and Atticus Egan; his great-grandchildren, Alena and Enslie Barrientos and Victoria and Lily Jordan; as well as a host of extended family and friends. Rev. Egan was born December 5, 1929, in Evans, La. He received the Holy Ghost and started preaching the gospel at the age of 16. He pastored churches in Hemphill, Texas and Vincent and Green Pond, Alabama. He founded the First United Pentecostal Church of Tuscaloosa in 1956. Rev. Egan was also the Youth President, Secretary, and Presbyter for the Alabama District of the United Pentecostal Church for many years. He was an effective, caring full-time pastor until age 80. He won many souls to the Lord and worked tirelessly for the Kingdom of God. His influence and inspiration reached far more than can be numbered. Through his prayers and dedicated service, God performed many miracles during Bro. Egan's lifetime. He became senior pastor in July 2010. He has received a great reward in Heaven. Pallbearers will be members of the Alabama District Board of the United Pentecostal Church International. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons. The family would like to thank all of the ones who helped us during his illness. Extra thanks to Rev. Marilyn Belcher, Lois Hartley, and Karol Owen.
