Peggy Lunceford Appling, age 76 of Northport, Alabama, left her earthly life Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at home surrounded by family and friends.
Service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Campground United Methodist Church at 4:00 pm with Bro. Paul Wilson and Bro. Tony Gunter officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Polly Lunceford, brothers; Jackie, Bobby, and Larry Lunceford.
Survivors include her husband of over 57 years, Joe, with whom she worked along with and ran Leck's Welding for 49 years. Together they built a home for their three sons, Greg (Jamie), Sam (Tonya), Rusty (Teia) Appling, her "other" son; David Baumhower, sisters; Bettye Jayne Barnett and Linda Scales, grandchildren; Audra Rogers, Samantha Appling, Lauren Morris (Tanner), J.R. Appling, Evan Appling, Emma Appling, and Baylee Appling, five great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to Teresa Smith for the patience and love she showed while helping Joe care for Peggy over the last year during her battle with dementia.
Her sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers wilt but the grass continues to grow; In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Campground Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 176, Samantha, Alabama 35482, in honor of Mrs. Appling.
