Pearl George, age 86, of Akron, died Oct. 20, 2011, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Overstreet and Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her son, William "Pee Wee"� George, and her husband, Dewey George. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Ward (Sam) of Coker, Mary Walker of Moundville, and Annie Hartley (Arthur) of Akron; four sons, Wilford "Buck"� George (Martha Jean) of Moundville, Henry "Bill"� George of Akron, Robert George (Janet) of Vance, and John Cecil George of Akron; 27 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and two special nephews, Jessie Tom Henry and William DeMott. Pallbearers will be grandsons Earnest Hartley, Arthur Hartley, Jr., Dewey George, Roger George, John Curtis George, and William George. Honorary pallbearers are all grandsons and Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
